Experience Autumn at Hardcastle Crags in a traditional wood-fired sauna. Set beside the pond at historic Gibson Mill, you’ll sauna surrounded by ancient woodland in the most spectacular season.
Off-grid and offline this is a unique opportunity to completely relax and revitalise in the most glorious of settings.
The pathway to the sauna is wood-lined and undulating, filled with sounds of birds and the river, with far reaching views across treetops and along the valley. Your return journey along the path will feel quite different. And so will you!
Book either a space in a communal session or hire the whole sauna
From Midgehole Road car park, walk along the main path to Gibson Mill. Allow around an hour for this, and remember it’s part of the experience!
Toilets are on-site and the café will be selling a selection of sandwiches, cakes and hot and cold drinks
Changing space is limited – bring robes if you have them

Sauna at Mytholmroyd Community Centre
Sauna in the traditional way - woodfired, well-ventilated & steamy! Outdoor sauna in a vintage horse box with cold water options - shower, barrel and vintage style bath.
This is a traditional, eco set up with the ability to run off-grid (no tech or gadgets.) The plunges are tap cold so you’ll bathe in seasonally temperate water - as they do in Finland - which means it’ll be warmer in summer and colder in winter. If plunging isn’t for you, simply cool off outside.
You’ll enjoy the beauty of hill top views while you sauna with the convenience of community centre facilities including free parking, toilets, changing rooms and showers.
Regular sauna outdoors is a beautiful way to connect with the seasons and you’ll begin to notice the smallest changes. You’ll emerge from your session feeling clear, expansive and awake, whatever the time of year.

Mytholmroyd Community Centre
Built from chicken sheds over 50 years ago Mytholmroyd Community Centre has weathered floods and storms and been at the heart of the community ever since. In true trailblazer style they were the first to offer Calderdale’s first woodfired public sauna a home in September 2023 and we’ve been here in the car park ever since.
Sauna users are welcome to use centre facilities including free parking. MCC is visible from the main road (A6033), just behind Barbary's bar and opposite Sainsbury's. Don’t follow your satnav - drive along Caldene Avenue and over the bridge to get to the car park.
Otherwise it’s just a 5 minute walk from Mytholmroyd train station. It’s 1 stop on the train to Hebden Bridge, 1 stop to Sowerby Bridge, 15 mins and you're in Halifax. Direct trains to Manchester and Leeds.
MCC is a community hub with squash courts, function rooms, bar, badminton court, spin and mat based class rooms. There's lots of regular events and classes - have a look at the timetable and book in a sauna before or after a class or event.
There’s plenty of nice cafe's and bars nearby if you fancy a refresher after your sauna or making a day of it!
